What do you wish you could change or improve about the industry?
I would like to see more garment construction brought back to the United States as well as having higher standers in place for the working environment of the employees. I would like new designers to have platforms to showcase their art – thank you Nineteenth Amendment!
Why do you design?
Sewing is not just a hobby but a passion. That passion of mine turned into another passion, one for designing. I have always enjoyed recreating garments and coming up with new designs. During my time studying at Lasell I discovered that designing is something that is a part of me. When I walk down the streets of Boston I can’t help but see an outfit and think of the process it took to create it. I tend to visualize the different pattern pieces. Designing is something that I could never see myself not doing.
Why did you sign up for Nineteenth Amendment?
I signed up to be a part of Nineteenth Amendment because I honestly had no idea where to start or how to get my designs out there. As a recent graduate getting your work out there is very nerve-racking. Joining Nineteenth Amendment has allowed me to learn more about the fashion industry as well as having a wonderful opportunity to get my designs out to a larger audience.
