Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do?

My name is Shannon Moody, fashion blogger for my own blog, Fashion Nexus, and recent graduate of New York Law School. I originally hail from a small town in North Carolina, but I’m excited to now be working and living in the “city that never sleeps” – New York City! I’ve been enamored with all things fashion pretty much since I moved to New York. It’s been so fulfilling creating my own site, interacting with readers, designers, brands, and the like. I can’t wait to see what more is in store for me when it comes to the fashion industry.

What does fashion mean to you?

To me, fashion is hard to define as it can mean different things to different people – style, creative expression, and the like. It’s ever-changing and ever-evolving and I’m just happy that I can work in fashion through my blog and have this creative outlet now that I’ve never really had before.

When did you develop a love of fashion?

I think I’ve always loved fashion, but in North Carolina, fashion is a little different than here in NYC. I’ve always had my own sense of style, knowing what I like, but my fondness and growth with fashion definitely became full-on in NYC.

How would you describe your style?

For my personal style, I like apparel that is simplistic, a bit understated, and then I like to accessorize a look up with more statement-making accessories (jewelry, tights, headbands, clutches, etc.). I really like my looks to embody being modern, chic, fashionable, and classy.

What trend do you hope never goes out of style?

I love the use of lace with looks, whether it’s the main fabric, part of a cut-out, or a sheer effect. So for me, lace can stay forever!

What’s the one garment you’ll never give away?

I had the pleasure of meeting a talented designer, Joyce Pilarksy, at Fashion Week Brooklyn one season. She was so kind in offering to make me a dress, as well as some jewelry, and I could never see myself parting with any of those pieces.

What excites you about Nineteenth Amendment?

I’m a huge fan and personal supporter of emerging and independent designers. So it thrills me that a group such as Nineteenth Amendment has a sole focus and mission to work with these brave and bold souls!

What spoke to you about the garment you chose to wear?

The Spaco Liquido lattice dress really stood out for me because it had such a bold color and print (that kind of resembles a funky lace effect). I also think it stood out because even with such a vibrant print, it still feels like something I would have and wear from my own wardrobe.

ABOUT SPACO LIQUIDO, ATAH GIBOR LEOLAM ADONAI

The Kabalic saying Atah Gibor Leolam Adonai or “You, O Lord, Are Mighty Forever” inspires the latest collection. The colors chosen for this dress line are black and white combined with purple and yellow to symbolize gold and God. The purple is historically associated with royalty as the amalgamation between passion (red) and wisdom (blue). The dye was greatly prized in antiquity because the color did not easily fade, but instead became brighter with weathering and sunlight. Patterns and colors are strategically placed to bring femininity and strength to the wearer. Made with crisp black-and-white illustrations to create eye-catching compositions in vivid hues and achieve dazzling new effects, the print was drawn to represent the communion of the body with the soul and the natural elements.
